ELECTIONEERING AT INGLEWOOD.

TO tue ior ou.

Sir, — Wore Sir Harry Atkinson to know the doings of some of tho advocates of his cause in Inglewood, ho would blush for shame, and repel with scorn the basa means adopted to further his cause. Mr McGuire must be congratulated if his enemies can bring no greater crime against him than that ho is a Catholic and an Irishman. Mean and low must that spirit be that can stoop to tho subterfuge of endeavoring to poison tho minds of foreigners, and prey upon their credulity by misrepresentation and slander. One person in particular has made a canvas from house to house, and if ho ia correctly reported he has not manifested much regard for truth when speaking of Mr McGuire. But he may h?ar some moro about it later on. Surely Sir Harry, when returned, won't forget his services. Ho seeks out those whom he knows aro uninformed and stirs up sectarian strife by saying, "Oh ! you surely would not vote for an Irishman and an Catholic; we must keep those Catholics out of Parliament, or we'll suffer by it ;" and other charges against McGuire's private life, which must uot be mentioned here. They cannot urge anything against his public life— they try to pick holos in his private life by groundless slander.— l am, &c,

A Lover of Fair Play. Inglewood, December 2, 1890.
