Fbiday, August 29. — The Speaker took the chair at 2.30 p.m. The Auckland Harbor Board Management Bill, the Rabbit Nuisance Bill, the Census Bill, and the Truck Bill were read a second time, after strong opposition on the part of the Hon. Dr. Pollen and the Hon. Mr Pharazyu. The Council adjourned to 7.30, and on resuming The Sheep Bill passed its second reading. Mr Peter said there was a great deal of feeling with regard to the branding clauses in the North Island, and he intended to move an amendment in Committee' making the branding of sheep permissive on application to local bodies. The Volunteer Drill Sheds Validation Bill, the Cattle Bill, and Company's Act Amendment Bill were read a third time and passed. The Council rose at 8.45 till Monday.
