fFBOM OUB SPECIAL COBBESPONDENT.] PRIMAGE DUTY TO CEASE. Saturday, August 30. — An agreement has been come to ■ between the Opposition and the Government for a cessation of the primage duty. It has been decided that a bill be brought in and passed through all its stages legalising the collection of duty up to tho end of the present month, after which the Government undertake not to collect it, DISTRIBUTION OF MARRIED WOMEN'S PROPERTY. Mr. Samuel's Administration Acts Amendments Bill has been adopted by the Government at the recommendation of a large number of lawyer members on both sides of the House, and it will probably pass. Ita effect will be to make the provisions of the Act of 1885 for the distribution of tho separate property of married women, in cases of intestacy- to extend to all the property of married women, whether vested for their sole and separate use or not. CORONERS' AMENDMENT ACT. Managers at the Free Conference between the two Houses on the amendments made in the Coroners' Inquests Bill have failed to come to any agreement, the managers of the Legislative Council refusing to consent to Mr Samuel's clause for the payment of jurors hv any form. HARBOUR LOAN BOND HOLDERS. - -I hear that the report of the Public Petitions Committee on the petition of the New Plymouth Harbour Board bond holders will be that the petitioners have no claim on the colony. THE PRIMAGE DUTY. The Government has not decided to abolish the primage duty until they see what the reductions in the Estimates will come to.
