The Band collected £8 at the sacred concert in the Recreation Grounds on Christmas Day. In the New Zealand Gazetti of December 18th it is notified that Captain Hoskins, late of Taranaki Rifles, haa been placed as Captain on the Retired Active List from November. 30th last. Before the Trust Commissioner (C. E. Rawson, Esq,,) last Saturday, Mere Taera Pomare applied to mortgage sec 66, block 7, Waitara Survey District, to Martin Chapman, solicitor, of Wellington. It seems that he wont to Tikorangi on horseback to visit some friends, when by some mischance he got thrown from his horse and Mb right foot got hung up in the stirrup leathers, with the result that the sudden wrench broke the bono. He was brought into town the same night. DrGault attended the sufferer who was progressing favorably this (Saturday) morning.
