BOYCOTTING CATTLE MARKET. Two Irish farmers have been senteaced to three months' imprisonment on a charge of having attempted to boycott the Irish cattle market. ABSENTEES WANTED HOME. The convention of Irish land owners, under the presidency of the Duke of Abercorn, resolved that a large increase in the number of land owners occupying their own estates was of the highest importance to the interests of the country. Resolutions were also carried in favour :of adopting a complete system in registration of titles and advances to land ownejs to enable them to purchase the tenants' interests and holdings. THE PORTUGUESE DIFFICULTY. Senhor H. de Barros Gomez, Minister or Foreign Affairs in Portugal, has communicated with Lord Salisbury, denying tho report from Zambesi that Major Pinto assorts that after repulsing the natives he found three English flags among the baggage of the vanquished. A further report of the difference is shortly expected from Major Pinto. Senhor Gomez considers that a rupture with England would be a great misfortune, and he desires to amicably arrange the matter. Durban, December 27. Information has reached here that Mr Johnson, the British Agent in the Zambesi country, is annexing land on shores of Lake Tanganyika. JURY IN CRONIN MURDER CASE. Chicago, December 27. Further arrests have been made in connection with the charge of attempting to bribe the jury trying those on trial for the murder of Dr. Cronin. Seven additional cases aro now being heard. MEETING OF BRAZILIAN PARLIAMENT. Rio de Janeiro, December 21. The meeting of the Brazilian Assembly is postponed to November next. DOM PEDRO'S ALLOWANCE STOPPED. Doin Pedro, his family, and the ex-Premier have been formally banished. The donation of £580,000 to the deposed Emperor has been cancelled, and the payment of the annual allowance of £80,000 suspended.
