JOHN BRYCE ELECTED FOR WAIPA Auckland, November 22. Nominations for the representation of the Waipa electoral district in the House of Representatives were received on Thursday. Mr. John Bryce was th« only candidate proposed, and he wat accordingly declared elected. NORTH ISLAND TRUNK RAILWAY ROUTE. The Hon. Mr Richardson, Minister of Lands, who left about three weeks ago to view the laud in possession of tho Government along the route of the North Island Trunk Railway, arrived at Tc Kuiti on November 21st, and loft Taumaraini on tho return journey on Friday. He will not reach Wellington till Wednesday or Thursday next. JUBILtfE OF THE SETTLEMENT OF WELLING ION. Wellington, November 23. j. A largely attended public meeting was held, last night for the purpose of discussing the question of taking steps for celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the settlement of Wellington. Several prominent citizens addressed the meeting, and it was decided that the celebration take the form of a regatta on the 22ud January, 1890.
