«. RESULT OF A TEST CRUSHING. 764 OUNCES TO THE TON. The Whangarei correspondent of the New Zealand Hcraid on Thursday wires : There is some excitement here in consequence of a report of the trial crushing of silver ore at Waiorongomai. The first ton is reported to have crushed 764 ounces. The reefs are very large in the Puhipuhi country, and if the stone goes anything like that all over, then we are on the eve of a mining boom. The first news about the silver ore from the Puhipuhi has been confirmed, and the silver is said to be easily extracted. The other minerals consist of lead and sulphur. • Hardly anything else is talked of here. [PER PRBrtS ASSOCIATION.] With regard to the finding of silver at Puhipuhi, Auckland, the Government state they do not intend to proclaim the field until they are in receipt of an official return of the assay.
