LETTER OF THANKS. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I wish to publicly thank Dr. O'Carroll for the kind and skil ul way in
which he treated me during my illness. I wish also to thank Miss Dean for the kind way she treated me during my stay in the Hospital. My thanks are due also to Miss Blackley, the matron, and the other nurses. — I am, &0., Arthur Bishop.
In view of the deciding Cup match between New Plymouth and Man^anui, which is to be played at Ingle wood on Saturday, September 28th, the former team intend to get into praotice as soon as possible, and it is also said that the Manganui men intend to get to work likewise.

Messrs F. W-. Hall and B. Murray have just completed for Dr. Leatham a medical galvanic battery, which is encased in a haiidsomo rimu frame, with mottled kauri panels. ' The machine has 50 cells, but us many as 100 can be placed in it it necessary. The machine is also fitted up with a medical coil for interrupted current, which is capable of giving 26 distinct powers. The silver plating, and in fact all the fittings were the work of the makers, who are earning quite a local oelebrit in the manufacture of these batteries. The makers wished to send the machine to the Exhibition at Dunedin, but Dr. Leatham could not spare it.
