[from our own correspondent.] June 25. — The School Committee met at Oinata on Monday evening to recommend a teacher for the Omata school. The parents were asked to meet the Committee to decide whether a male or female teacher should be appointed ; whsn it was decided in favor of one of the former sex by Bto 6. The Committee the i recommended Air Richards to the Board for tho vacdncy. I have, however, heard since that he is likely to withdraw his application, as most of the parents prefer someone else, which was not known until after the meeting.

There is no sign of our new hotel, aDd I hear the applicant is going to leave the district. I think be is wise in not buil.itas, for there is reully no room for two hotels. We wish him, however, evtty success wherever he goes, fot he is a "jolly good fellow."

The wisdom of publishing the celebrated Atkinson-Fißher correspondence is gravely questioned, says the Frets, by some metinbtrp, and thtre is with a few a feeling ihat a vote of the House will be required before the correspondence can be Lid on the table. It is difficult, however to reconcile this belief with the Premier's lircct promise that the official letters between Mr Fishi r und himself would be luid on the table at an curly date, notwithstanding that he considered it would bo a " very bud precedent mdecd,"
