TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

Tug annual meeting of tho Taranaki Agricultural Society was held in the Bridge Club Boom on Saturday afternoon. Present : Messrs Olson (Chairman), Colonel Trimble, H. J. Honeyfield, A. Kynjrdon, F. P. Corlrill, J. Jury, W. Hrs'iin, H. King, Q. Adlntn, A. Davidson, R. Olemow, B. Street, H. Okoy, C. W. Govett, E. Marfell, 11. Ncwland, and S. Longs tail. Agricdltoral College. — A circular was received from Christchurch with reference to the Agricultural College there, and the advantages that would be derived from it. Circulars of a placard advertisotnout were also sent. Several members considered the institution whb a very good one. Co-opkbation. — With reference to exhibiting it was decided that members of any similar Society in New Zealand who allowed this Society's members to exhibit at their Shows with the same privileges as their own members, be allowed to exhibit at the Taranaki Show. BALANCB-SIUBT. — The balance-sheet, as published on Saturday, was read showing a credit ba'anco of 10s lOd, but with outstanding debtn a debit of about Cl ..'. — The balance-eheet was adopted without much comment. Election of Officers. — Colonel Trimble was re-elected President, and then took tho chuir, after a few words of thanks. The Committee elected wne, Captain Mace, Messrs Olßon, King. Street, Honeyfield, Govett, Okey, Cotkill, Jury, Marfell, Hoskio, Davidson, Clemow, Nowland, sad Loagitafr Meaere Douglas

and Eyngdon were eleoted auditors at the üßual fee. Spring SHOW.-~On the question of the Spring Show owning up, Mr. Davidson moved, " That the Spring Show be held at the usual tima.-~Seconddd by Mr. Hoskin. —The Sborbtary stated that the receipts of Inst show were £38 9b, and the expendi- > ture £58 8s 2d, leaving a debit of £19 or so, and the loss on the last Autumn Show was £15.— Mr. Olson spoke for a continuation of the oattle and produce show at tba end of next April. — Mr. Kyngdon said he wbp ia favour of the Society resting on their oars for a time, and ko«pin? their finances in a better position, — Mr. Govett stated he had heard several strangers who had seen the last Spring Show say that they ought to be brought up for getting money on false pretenoes, as the Show was auoh a wretched affair. He believed the Sooiety was in a worse position now than at that time, nad he considered it would do the district more harm than good to have another Show like the last one. — Mr. CorkiMj advooated the paying in of the subscriptions and the wiping out of the present debts, the Secretary, he instanced, not having received any remuneration for a couple of years now. Until all the debts were paid, and tbe finances got in a bettor condition be would be against the holding of any show. He pointed out that the loss on last show, taking into aooount £6 donations, was £26, find on the last Autumn Shaw there was a loss of £15.— Mr H. King said that the loss ou the Autumn Show was paitly due to tbe volunteers, who were here on encampment at the time. — Mr Davidson's motion was then put and loßt. Combined Show. — Mr Olson then moved, " Tint a combined oattle nnd produce show be hold in Autumn." — Seconded by Mr Newland. — Mr Okbt moved as an amendment, "That the oHicary Autumn Show be hold in' the Alexandra Hall." — The Chairman and Mr Kyngdon favored the idea of referring the holding of an Autumn combined Show*, or an ordinary Autumn Show to the Committee, who would make full enquiries, Bud report to a future meeting. — On this understinding the motion and amendment were withdrawn, — On Mr Ktngdon'b motion, it was decided to refer the question of holding acombiuod Autumn, or ordinary Autumn, or any show to tha Committee, who would report on the same to a meeting held that day 5 weeks. Ths Board ndjourned.
