A sepocial meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, yesterday, carried a resolution, that the 'Frisco mail is the most economical, aud performed in the shortest time, and is, therefore, the most useful to the colony. WOMAN DROWNED IN A WELL. At Whangarei, Mrs. 0. Courtney, while drawing water from a well, tell in aud was drowned. FATAL RESULT OF PURAKANUI ACCIDENT. Dtjnedin, August 9. George Williamson, who was injured by a falling stone at Purakanui Cliffs, died yesterday without having recovered consciousness.
