PARLIAMENTARY
POLITICAL GOSSIP IN WELLINGTON. DURATION OF THE SESSION. The Auckland Herald special says: — The unwelcome leisure that has been enforced upon members of both Houses of the Legislature by the adjournment for a fortnight, is bogetting a plentiful crop of speculation as to tho probable duration of the session. CHRISTMAS OR MARCH. The Parliamentary optimist hopes to eat his Christmas dinner at his own homo ; those of an opposite mental turn declare that there is " nae such luck aboot a Blouse having a Financial Statement before it and a political crisis in the country. I have even heard an ex-Minister declare that the more probablo date of the prorogation of the first session of this Parliament would be about the first week in March. Ido not wish to be a Job's comforter, but 1 am bound to give you this ex-Ministerial Statement, and the reason for it.
