ACCIDENTS AT WAITARA.

A couple of accidents happened at Waitara j on Thursday. On the afternoon of that day, Mr. Oliver Spurdle, senior, wheelwright, was working in his shop with his sons, Oliver and Henry. He was working a drill nt one end of the shop, and just above his head was a rack supporting two dray shafts. The shaking caused by the working of the drill caused one of: the shafts to fall, and whicb in its descent struck Mr. Spurdle on the head, inflicting a scalp wound four inches long. Dr. Blunden attended the sufferer. About an hourafterthe above mentioned casualty a boy named William McKoy, aged 11, while passing near tho Waitara j East school, attempted to get into a trap that was standing in the road in order to get a ride home, but while getting into the trap by moans of the step at the back, the step* broke and tho boy slipped, oneot his legß going between the spokes of one of the wheels, and at the same time the horse started to walk, and as the wheel revolved the boy was turned over. When he managed to extricate himself he found he-had sustained a flesh wound about sis inches long, starting just above the knee and running straight up the thigh. He did not know how it was caused, but thought it must have been torn by the broken step.
