BANKRUPTCY COURT.

Thursdat, September I.— Before F. P« Corkill, Esq., Deputy Official Assignee.

IN RE ALKX. BOSS.

The first general meeting of the creditors of Alex. Ross, of New Plymouth, livery stable keeper, was held at the Assignee's office, on Wednesday, at 2 rj,m. There were present, the D.O.A. (in the chair), Messrs. E. T. Petty, £1 10s ; A. George, £7 10s ; H. Julian, £33 2b ; J. Butterworth, £4 ; J. Wells, and J. Asher. The statement filed- by the bankrupt showed the following liabilities and assets : — Scoured creditors, G. Sole, rural allotment No. 6, Grey district, 16 acres, estimated value £130, . amount of debt £142; D. Sinolair, bill of sale over one brake and one small buggy, £40 in value, amount of debt £93 lls. Total, £235 11b. Unsecured creditors'' claims amount to £193 4s 6d. Assets : Book " debts £17 10a, estimated to produce the same; caßh in hands of bankrupt's solicitor on account of costs, £5 10a; fnrniture and effects £25 17s 6d; part of section 168, Devonport, £10. Total £58 17s 6d. Deficiency £199 18a 6d. Mr. Corkill said the only, asset really available for the creditors was the book debts, the furniture being by the Aot reserved for the bankrupt, who was allowed his household goods to. that amount. In answer to questions the bankrnpt stated that he tried to sell the plaoe on the Carrington Road, and asked £50 for his interest in it. He might have got £50. That was two months ago, when all the carrots were in the groud. Did not think there were more than 2 or 3 tons there now. Had no interest left in any horses or carriages. Had a contract to carry mails ; ( there were five or six weeks' services now to be paid for, bat the money had long since been assigned. Mr. Petty proposed " That the Assignee be requested to facilitate the bankrupt's discharge," seconded by Mr. Asher. Mr. A. George proposed "That the bankrupt's discharge be opposed for a time." No one seconded the amendment, which consequently lapsed. v< The motion was then put and carried. The meeting adjourned.
