[per united pbess association.] another firk in wellington. Wellington, May 21. A fire broke out at Thornton 'i confectionery establishment at 1.8( this morning. A strong southerly gale was blowing at tho time but the fire brigade managed tc subdue the flames, but not before considerable damage was done. The building and stock were insured foi i £160 in the National. The estimated loss of stock by fire and water is £600. Tho Victory, Lord Nelson's flagship, it is reported, is (saye an exchange) to have masts put into her once more und towed out to Spitbeud to B^rve as flagship on the ocoas'ion of tho jubilee naval review. It may not be generally known that the 'Victory, besides beiug the oldest abip in the Navy, is, bb far as can bo ascertained, the oldest ship at present afloat, and that the name which Bhe bears has been borno by British men-of-war over since tho earliest infancy of the service. She was laid down at Chathnm in 1700—128 yoors ugo — and was launouod on May 7, 1763. On tho day of, Trafalgar she was already na old ship.
