DEATH OF AN M.H.R.

Russell, April 6. Mr. Ihakia Hakuene, M.H.R. for the Northern Maori Electorate, died to-day. - He became ill in Auckland, after eating tinned beef, on Monday. Contrary to the advice of bis doctor he persisted in returning here among his friends, and gradually got worse. Great regret is expressed in this district.
