He would strenuously oppose ifc r aa oaly necessary measures should be brought in, and the large questions left to the new Parliament. JHe would accept population as $he main, but not the only basis of representation. He admitted that the present Land Act was a liberal measure. He would not support Protection for protection's sake. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed.
