WAIHI ROAD BOARD.

[FROM OUR URENUI CORRESPONDENT.J An adjourned meeting of the above Board was held at the Clifton County Council offices, at Waitara, on September 16, 1886, at 2 p.m. Present : Messrs. J. Rattenbury (chairman), W. Black, J. D. Baker, and J. Hine. Meeting of Committee. — A letter was read from the Tikorangi Road Board, appointing Messrs. S. Knight, W. Earp, and G. Cunningham as a committee to meet the committee of the Waibi Road Board re assets and liabilities. Leave of Absence. —A letter was read from Mr. G. Jay, asking for leave of absence from the meeting of the Board on account of ill-health. —lt was proposed by Mr. Hine, seconded by Mr. Baker, " That Mr. Jay have leave of absence from the meetings of the Board during his illness." —Carried. Meeting of Committees. —It was proposed by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Black, " That the chairman and Messrs. Hine and Black be a committee to meet the committee of the Tikorangi Road Board re assets and liabilities." —Carried. Members to retire by rotation, under the Act. —lt was resolved " That Messrs. J. Rattenbury and Baker be the two retiring members from the Board at the end of the year." Merging the District into the County. — A long discussion took place on this matter, and it was ultimately proposed by Mr. Black, seconded by Mr. Hine, " That the necessary steps be taken by the Waihi Boad Board with a view of merging tbe road district into the County of CliftoD, and that a meeting of. the ratepayers of the "Woihi road district be held at Waitara to consider the advisability of merging the district into tho County of Clifton, and that tbe clerk draw up a petition for signature to be presented to the Clifton County Council." —Carried. Next Meeting of the Board. —lt was proposed by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Hine, " That the next meeting of the Board bo held September 30th."—Carried. The Board rose.
