He says :—": — " News has been received by friends in Ireland that tho King of tho Sandwich Islands has appointed Robert J. Greighton hia Minister of Foreign Affairs. The new Minister of State has had an adventurous life, of peculiar interest to Press m»n. He commenced life as an office boy in an Irish provincial newspaper office, where he wrote the covers ; and, nftor serving his time as a compositor, ho held appointments in Bolfast und Londonderry as a reporter. Subsequently he came to London, and emigrated to- Auckland, where he started the Southern Gross, a Wellington newspaper. From Wellington ho went to Cnlit'ornin, and then settled in Honolulu. His rise there has been rapid, and this moment he figures as His Excellency Robert J. Creighton, Minister of State to tho King of tho Sandwich Islands."
