The St. James's Gazette says :—": — " An unfortunate accident occurred to the second train of the colonial and Indian visitors on July 23, soon after their arrival at Portsmouth Dockyard, The passengers were transferred to a dockyard train, which had jnst started to convey them round the dockyard ; and on turning a sharp curve some of: the carriages left the line, one of them turning; completely over. A number ot visitors were injured. Ton persons were conveyed to the dockyerd infirmary and were treated by the surgeons. Tho injuries were chiefly nasty Bcalp and flesh wounds, and thero was not one caae of fractured limbs. Two ladies were amongst the wounded, nnd they aro in a prostrate condition — not, however, owing to tho severity o£ their injuries, whioh are only superficial, but to the shock to the system. The worat case is that of an elderly gentleman whose left arm was badly # j.iggod, . and who sustainod a Berious -shaking, tie refuses to give his name, not wUhing to alarm his friends ; and Bavoral Other sufferers decline to disclose their identity on the same ground. The only names yet obtainable are those of Captain James Smith, R.N., Mr. R<inkin, Misß Saunderß, and Chief Engineer Turner, R.N. None of these cases aro at all serious. One of the injured ladies is badly disfigured. The accident is attributed to the wearing of the point at tho curve and to, the trucks being more heavily laden than the dockyard lino was intended to bear. The dockyard officials displayed 1 commendable promptitude in extricating the injured and conveying them to the surgery. Cabs and doctors were summoned from the town, but h.ippily the assistance of the latter was not required, tho dockyard medical staff being ample for all purposes. Shortly after 12 o'clock a special gang of workmen were set to work, and soon cleared the blocked line. The accident di i not interfere with the carrying out of die day's programme. Another report gives the following list of injured: — Sir William Dobson, Chief Justice of Tasmania, and his mother; Chiet Engineer Turner, of H.M.S.
