RAHOTU.

[FBOM A CORBESPONDENT.I

September 8. — " Your Own " does not seem to. be-- keeping himself very well posted up in local events just now, judging from his acconnt of the meeting at Rahotu on the 28th August in connection with Factory matters. He says tho meeting was poorly attended, but I thought it was very well attended, especially considering the misrepresentations •which had been circulated so actively throughout a large portion of tbe district in consequence of the petty jealousy " your own "pretends to so much deplore. Mr. Gane'B private meeting seems to have, fallen through for lock of support, as may well have been expected. As " your own " was absent from the meeting on Saturday .evening last, from some — to moßt people — unaccountable reason, I thought I wonld just drop, you a line or two, letting you know how things were proceeding. To digress for a moment, I never remember noticing the old saying, "Out of sight, out of mind," more clearly illustrated than on that occasion, as the absence of "your •own's ;> - visage and seductive Bmile was scarcely remarked. Now to proceed. On Saturday last we bad a remarkably large meeting for a country place ; there must have been clese on fifty settlers present, all of whom seemed greatly interested, and determined, to endeavour to get the Dairy Factory system introduced into the district. However, they found it would be impossible to do anything in the way of Btarting this season, the time being too far advanced, but have decided to take time by the • forelock for the next season's operations. It being fouud necessary for geographical reasons to establish two factories, both proposed companies br-se determined to hold meetings about the latter end of the old or early in the new year, to take active steps in the matter. I dp not send the minutes of the meeting, as the Chairman had left, taking them with him, before I made up my mind to write; but as matters have been arranged, I feel pretty -well assured that within twelve months two Dairy Factories will be established between Pungarehu and Oao-nui, petty jealoußy notwithstanding, and the most unpleasant wish I can utter is — May they flourish and prosper even beyond their expectation.

Remember this. If you are Bick Hop Bitters will surely aid nature in making you well when all else fails. Hollow ay's Ointment asd Pills — As winter advances and the weather becomes more and more inclement and trying the earliest evidences of ill-health must be immediately checked and removed, or a slight illneßS may result in a serious malady.
