POLITICAL GOSSIP IN WELLINGTON.
NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOUR LOAN. Friday, July 9. —The people of Now Plymouth are no doubt greatly indebted to Mr. Samuel for his plncing before the members in such a clear manner the position they stand with regard to the harbour. The members in no way approved ot the tactics of Colonel Trimble and Mr. Richmond Hursthouse the other day ia delaying the business of the House ; and accordingly allowed the adjourned debate to be placed first on the Order Paper. Mr. Sutter brought tho matter forward, contending that as it was a permissive bill tho Uouso should allow it to pass. Ho condemned the attempt to stone-wall any measure of the kind, as ie did not show good taste in the members who attempted it.
