MR. ROY'S NEW OFFICES.
Mn. J. B. Roy to-day moved into his new offices, which are however not quite out of ! the workmen's hands. The building is an ornament to Brougham-street. The front is of the undecided style o£ architecture called comp.ositp, and seems very appropriate. The interior is fitted throughout with varnished rimu, and the Sash and Door Factory seem to have selected tho most boautiful specimens of the wood they could, for the grain and linish are of unusual quality. Mr. O'Brien is the builder, and has, so Mr, Sanderson, the architect, telis us, performed his work very faithfully and well; while the plumbing fittings were all supplied by Mr. Bragg. The entrance into the clients' hall is through a ! pair of glass folding doors, and the first thought on seeing the arrangements within is that they are of an unusual kind for a lawyer's establishment. The enquirer is attended to by a cleik over a polished counter, as if ho were in an ordinary trading establishment. Mr. Roy's room is at the back, and is comfortably furnished with a view to the calls of many clients. There are also two clerks' rooms, and it is very evident that provision has been made for a very large business. The fact that there is a largo concrete strong room for the storage of deeds and books must not be overlooked. It is constructed of cement, which Mr. Sanderson says vitrifies under a very great heat, although under a moderate heat it crumbles. Bricks are not so suitable, at least colonial bricks, as they draw the damp. The building on the whole is a credit to the town, and, provided thry were not all devoted to the same use, we should like to sec many more of them going up.
