EAST WARD ELECTION
TO TUB KDITOIt. Sin, — That mild and Christian letter in tlits morning's News from one of the bigotted " Blue Ruin" army is an indication of what the noble army would do if let alone, aud it behoves all persons of moderate viows and common sense to make a stand against Hits tyrunnical body that will ridee roughshod over aud crush everybody who does not believo in their absurdities. Unless some check is put ou, this Christian body will put their tools into every public oflico. The olectors of Eust Ward have now an opportunity of putting into the Council a man of Bound, practical, common sense, who has come forward (without demanding a requisition) at the solicitation of influential ratepayers residing in tho East Ward, and who appreciate Mr. Scott's faithful services in the past. As to Mr. Scott being connected with the Jockey Club, it is a mere scarecrow held up to frighten timid and unthinking people. From his straightforward conduct m tho past, and knowledge of Borough matters, Mr. Scott is thoroughly competent to protect the Borough interests. — I urn, tic., SCO'fTY.
