Melbourne, Jnne 0. A disastrous boiler explosion oc curred to-day at the Polio stearine candle manufactory, Brownshill. The buildings were seriously damaged, and one man lost his life. Sailed : Union Co.'s s.s. Albion for Bluff. Sydney, June G. Arrived: Union Co.'s s.s. Arawata from Auckland. The ferry steamer Fairlight, 185 tons, ran into aud sauk the steamer Osprey, 82 tons, off Fort Macquarie, in the harbour, to-day. The crew of the Osprey were all saved. Mr. Grigson, manager of the Agri» cultural Co.'s oolliery at Newcastle, has agreed to accept the proposal that arbitrators should be appointed to effect a settlement of the miners' stride.
