CAPITATION GRANT TO VOLUNTEERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Can you inform me if there is any truth in the report circulated here that the reason the Stratford Rangers have not received their capitation allowance (20s. each) due at the end of 1881, is owing to all the spare cash in the Treasury being required to pay the " Governor's wages ?" I for one cannot believe the report. — I am, &c, Owl. Stratford, Feb. 8, 1882.
