HALF-YEARLY MEETING OF SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE COMPANY.

The following is the report : — The directors have pleasure in placing before the shareholders the following statement of accounts for the sixteenth half-year of the company's business ended on the 31st August lasf. The income from fire and marine premiums has been £03,765 Bs. Bd. ; from interest and transfer fee". £5278 ()s. fid. Total. £09,043 <)s. 2d., which, added to £2343 3s. sd. brought forward from the previous half-year, makes a total of £71,380 12s. 7d. The total expenditure has been — Fire and marine losses paid and outstanding at close of books, £30,114 ss. 3d. ; reinsurance.", commissions, salaries, printing, advertising, and general charges, £20,301 od. 5 1. ; leaving a balance of £11.1)71 os. lid. to the credit of profit and lovi account, from which the directors recommend the payment of a dividend at the rale of 10 per cent, per annum. It will be the duty of the shareholders to elect two directors in the place of the Hon. 11. Chamberlain and J. Howard. Esq.. who retire in accordance with the Articles of Association, but who are eligible, and offer themselves for re-election.
