NOTICE. ANY person or perPons fonnd INJURING the TELEGRAPH POSTS, WIRE INSULATOHS, or any portions of the Telegraph ' Line, will be prosecuted in accordance with the following Clanses of " The Malicious Injuries to Property Act, 1867 :" — Clause XXXVII. — Whosoever Rhall unlawfully and maliciously oat, break, throw down, destroy, injore, or remove any battery, machinery, wire, cable, post, or other matter or thing whatsoever, being pfirfc of or being used or employed in or about any Eleotrio or Magnetic Telegraph, or in the working thereof, or shall nnlawfolly and maliciously prevent or obstruct in any manner whatsoever the sending, conveyance, or delivery ot any oommnnioation by any suoh Telegraph, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and, being convicted thereof, shall be liable, at the discretion of the Conrt, to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding two years, with or without hard labour : Provided that if it shall appear to any Justice, on the examination of any person charged with any offeuoe against this seotion, that it is not expedient to the ends of justice that the same should be prosecuted by indiotment, the Juetioe may prooeec summarily to hear and determine the same, and the Offender shall on conviction thereof, at the discretion of tbe Justice, either be committed to some public gaol there to be impri* soned only, or to be imprisoned aud kept to habd labour for any term not exceeding three months, or else shall forfeit and pay suoh sum of money not exceeding ten pounds aßtthe Justioe shall seem meet.
