LAND JOBBERY IN THE NORTH.
A few days ago tho Agency sent us a dark telegram intimating that some dreadful disclosures wero likely to be mado on the subject of corfcain land trausactions in a locality not specified. On tho same matter the Post says :—: — The public will probably yot hear furthor about tho transactions of tho "Auckland Land Ring-." Now that Ministers have obtained complete accoss to all documentary and other evidence, it is said that tho results of a searching investigation with respect to certain land transactions, have disclosed a series of fncts which may possibly result in proceedings boing- taken in the law courts against some of tho northern land sharks, with a view of compelling them to disgorgo their prey. Somo strange and startling disclosures are anticipated.
Two Irishmen were talking about an accident, the following colloquy occurred : "Shut 1 how is tho man that was hurt?" "An' he'a no bother." "Is he conscious ?" " Vis, he's conscious, bntdivil a thing doos he know !"
