TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
The half-) early general meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club wns held at the White Hurt Hotel, on Saturday evening last. Mr. James Paul bciug voted to the chair, the Secretary declared the balance at the Bank of New Zealand to the credit of the Club to be £09 ss. 4d. Elrei'ion of Committee. — It was proposed bj' Mr. J. JOllis, seconded by Mr. Hablly, and unanimously earned, "That Messrs. Vavasour, Messenger, Mace, Humphries, Hiitety, Elliot, and Day be re-elected as a Committee for the ensuing twelve months." Lease of the Racecourse. — The Secretary said, in compliance with a resolution passed at the last general meeting, ho had written to his Honor the Superintendent asking him to recommend to the Town Board the alteration in Mr. Sncll's lease. No ofiicinl reply hud been as jet received, but he believed the Board had agreed to the alteration the Club wished for. The agreement between Mr. Snell and the Club in reference to leasing the course for r.ieiug purposes, after some discussion, wns approved of and signed by Mr. Snell, and the Secretary on behalf of the Club. General Meeting of-uVcm Zealand Jochey Clubs. — A letter from the Secretary of the Auckland Racing Club was read, containing a resolution of Committee, as follows : — " That communication be opened with the several New Zealand Jockey Clubs, with a view for a member of each Club to meet at Christchurch, or elsewhere, and arrange for the readjustment of rules, weights, and fixtures for future races, &c." — The Secretary was requested to reply that it would be inconvenient for the Club to send a representative at the present time, but that the Taranaki Jockey Club will agree to any resolutions they may pnss for the improvement of racing in general. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the busiuess of the meetiiig.
