A PUBLIC meeting, held on Wednesday night, passed n resolution condemning the delay ia the construction of the Knipnra Railway. The Southern Cross contradicts the rumour that the Ministry intend to propose unother six million loan. Tho Native Minister returned from Waiknto on Wednesday. The principal winners a.t tho races were — Bucklnnd, £112; Watt, £123; Captain Waimsley, £G3; Jackson, £28; Young, £19. Typhoid fever has been prevalent for the past few months.
