Tub " Wanganui Chronicle." — The New Zealand Times calls tho Wanganuh Chronicle "a fluffy little paper published away up at Wanganui; and it is chiefly noticeable for the absence of news in its columns." Dr. Warren. — A very flattering testimonial was presented to Dr. Warren by tho passengers of tho ship ' Alumbagh,' which has recently arrived at Auckland. The testimonial is as follows: — "Dear Sir,— As some slight acknowledgment of the care, prudence, and attention all ou board have uniformly experienced from yourself duriug the voyage to Aucklaud, we desire to offer you our very best thanks. We fuel that you have done your utmost to ensure the comfort of every one, und wo hold ourselves highly iudebted (under Providence) to your skill for tho measure of health we vow enjoy/ Wo earnestly trust that you may be blessed with long life, good health, and plentiful prosperity.— Wo are, dear sir, very gratefully yours." —[Here follow tho signatures.] Dr. Warren, we understand, intends to praotice in New Plymouth. False Telegrams Eelative to Abolition Meetings, -*- Tho Auckland Star publishes tho following telegram from Wellington: — A few days since telegmma wero published from Lorybush, Mataura, and Invercargill, stutiug that a meeting of the inhabitants of those districts had decided against abolition. Mr. Cuthbcrtson, M.U.E., this morning publishes telegrams from the Mayor of Invercargill, and influential men of the district denying that any meeting took place, and that the whole report is a dishonorable trick of a few provincialists. Sir George Grey and Fitjsherbert's meeting at tho Uutt ou Saturday night was mainly attended by Maoris. It was more ludicrous than influential. A torchlight procession was attempted, but the torches would not fiz. President Grant a Grandsike.— Mrs. Sartoris (jieo Grant) has presented to Algernon and tho nation a handsome, full-weighted boy.
