Philadelphia Exhibition. — Tho local Committee of tho Philadelphia Exhibition will meet in the Institute this morning, ut clevcu o'clock, and not at three, as mentioned iv our last, as an Education Board meeting takes place iv tho afternoon, which would interfere with tho Committee meeting Tho Chairman (Mr. Crompton) informs us that he | has received a letter from Mr. Good, at Urenui, who offers to assist in every way possible, but says ho is afraid ho will not bo able to get any mats, for the natives arc ceasing to make them, because of the cheapness of European clothing, and tho immensity of time and labour of making them, especially those of the best description. Ho also states that Onaero, a chief, informs him that somo three or four years ago ho sent four of his best mats to Wellington to an exhibition, and from that day to the present time ho has received no acknowledgment of them, nor wcro his mat's returned to him. Ho according has declined to send anything more. The Intercolonial Football Match. —The Auckland football team will lenvo for tho South ou tho 14th September, and tho match will probably be played hero on tho 10 th, tho steamer agreeing to stay whilst the mutch is being played.
