TASMANIA.
The Edbart Town Mcrvwnj gives the following general statement of the wealth and resources of Tasmania, compiled from authentic official documents by Mr. Hugh 1L Ball, -secretary to the Itoyal Commissioners for the Paris and Australian Exhibitions :—: — 1. Tasmania contains 10,703,300 acres of land, of which 3,64£,505 acres have been alienated from the Crown, and are now the property of ■colonists. 2. Of the Crown lands 2,340,000 acreshave been valued by the Survey Department at £1,047,700 ; ■and if a value at 2s. per acre be placed -on the remaining Crown lands, the amount would be £l, loß^lß, ov a, total value of lands now belonging to the Crown of £2,156,418. 3. The population was 95,201. 4. The yearly value of the property of the colonists, as per valuation rolL, is £675,000 ; which, at six per cent., would represent a ■capital of £11,230,000. 5. The live stock of the .colony consists of- — 22,152 horses.at £14 each, representing £310,128; $0,020 cattle, at £4 10s, each, representing 3405,-090 ; 1,752,719 sheep, at Bs. each, representing !6701,0{57; 3G,C24 pigs, at 20s. each, representing £36,624; 12 asses and mutes, at £5 each, representing £60 ; 2,410 goats, at 10s. each, representing £1,206; total, £1,454,194. G. The shipping belonging to tie Jtwo ports is valued at £213,000. 7- The steamers belonging to the two ports arc valued at £100,000. 8. Tbe capital represented by the various banks is stated to be £826,000. 9. The coin and bullion in the various banks «n Slsfc December, 1865, were £174,358, and the deposits were £628,119. 10. The valne of the exports of 1865 (of which wool was valued at £381,625) was £880,965. 11. The crop of 1865 was as follows :— Wheat, 1,273,766 bushels, at 10s., £636,883; barley, 101,504 ditto, at 55., £25,376; oats, 683,740 ditto, at 45., £137,748; peas, 62,7(56 ditto, at I

Total assets of Tasmania on January 1, 1866, £18,991,912. Public debt of Tasmania on January 1, 1866 :—: — Debentures, of which £10,440 wore for defences of the colony, £2,300 for a lighthouse, £237,000 for public works, bridges, and buildings — £522,820.
