VOLUNTEERING.
No. 1 ROYAL HATJRAKI RIFLE VOLUNTEERS. The firing for the company’s prizes came off at the Parawai Butts, yesterday. The day was splendid for shooting. Captain Lipsey was in command, and Lieutenant Leehner was in charge at the firing point, Sergeant J. McDonald checking at the butts. The medal was won by Volunteer Leigh, with a splendid score of 51 points. Captain Lipsey did not fire for prizes, and therefore Volunteer Keller takes seventh prize. Major Cooper was also on the ground, and complimented the company on their firing. The following are the eight highest scores of those competing:—
