LOST IN THE BUSH.

Last week a man, known as “Con,” who has been working in the bush at Northern Wairoa for some time, found himself at Buchanan’s tramway, about 40 miles np the river from Tokatoka. It seems he had left Tokatoka about ten dayspreviously to go to Mangapai, and took the wrong road after crossing the Mangonui Creek; he then lost himself in the bush, and although the distance from the crossing place at the creek to the tramway is only about two hours’ walk, he was unable to find his way out of the bush, and wandered about for ten days without any food except nikau and such other things as he could find in the bush. When seen by the men at work on the tramway, lie was in a very exhausted condition ; but after a few days’ rest and good feeding he* was able to proceed on his way. Ten days in the bush without food or covering at this season of the year must be something fearful.— Cross.
