TEMUKA COMPETITIONS.

COMMENCING MONDAY NEXflft' Although the opening ceremony of the fifth annual musical Competitions will take place on Monday evening, the opening session of the festival will begin at 2 the afternoon of that day, with the contests for the Scotch reel, under 16 years. The programmes for the first two sessions are full of interest and will, without doubt, attract packed audiences at the Parish Hall, where the Competitions are to be staged. The opening ceremony will be performed by His Worship the Mayor (Mr T. E. Gunnion) at 7.30 p.m. , The committee have indeed been fortunate in securing the following adjudicators:—

Mr Arthur Lilly, A.R.C.O. (Christchurch), musical and elocutionary. Mr W. Cargo (Seadown), piping. Miss Gladys Bushell (Ashburton), dancing. Mr D. Ferguson, M.A. (Temuka), literary. The official accompanists will be Mrs F. W. Salmon and Miss F. Pearse.
