RATEPAYER'S OBJECTION.

INSPECTOR AXD NOXIOUS. . WEEDS. Mill JU'DSON DEMANDS APOLOGY . At. the last meeting of the Tern- - ilka Borough Council a letter was received from Mr E. 0. Shaw that ■ he hat. an objection to make re the foreman, Mr Jndson. A short time ago the Council took objection to some noxious weeds on one of his sections. His porter reported to him that the foreman gave him notice to remove same or he would get a "bluey." His objection was if there were any complaints they should be made to himself as owner of the property, He was not aware until but recently that the extreme corner where the 1 weeds were, belonged to him. On Saturday evening he told the writer that the Council would take his word before the writer's or his porter's. He didn't make a habit of causing any trouble, but in fairness he had to report same to the Council. Mr, Judson requested permission \ to bring Mr Washington to the -meeting- as a witness before he made his statemest. and permission granted;. .Mr Washington attending.' Mr Judson stated that some weeks ago he had. occasion to see to a tap that was leaking in the fowl yard,' and he saw the porter android him to fork over the yard. He said he had not seen Mr Shawand that he didn't need to and the porter replied "No you don't need -to." Some days after he told the porter there were some weeds m the open section a«d asked him to get a gorse knife and cut them, and the porter replied that it didn't belong to them. He did not think - any more about it until Saturday, when he saw Mr Shaw, and- he did not make the statement about the "bluey." 'Mr Shaw -was abusive and said he would complain to the Council, -and he replied "As a favour I hope you do." ■Mr Washington said that - the • statement was quite true. Cr B'uzan said he thonght if they aidnlt -uphold their officers they - "would be always- setting this ' sort '/'of thing. If'the officer "was doing the right 'thing they ought to upold him. The,letter was received. Mr Judson: I ask as a'- favour i that you ask for an apology from i■ Mr Shaw. In fact I demand an apol- • 3 ogy through your Council. I thought ■ j I -was doing him a favour. ■ t The Mayor: I don't think we will go that far. 7 Mr Judsos: I'll 'leave it to you. 1 ' Cr. Gunnion said Mr Shaw had 3 spoken to him about it, and the i sore par't-.with Mr-'Shaw was that--1 he (Mr Shaw) should get the not tice. He thought the owner of the \ i property should be spoken to. 3 Cr Buzan said he thought where - there were any complaints the Ov- ,\ - erseer should make the complaint - to the office, and notice should he . a sent from the office. He moved y that the inspector report any" liuis- - ance in the Borough and that notice y be sent in writing. A The Mayor said they shouldn't n object to a word from the inspector - without it being sent through the y office and advertised through the I papers. He felt it would he better t to go straight to the owner and d not take any notice of any porters.
