WOODBURY.
The bachelors and spinsters of tire Woodbury district have combined with the benedicts and arranged a dance for next Wednesday evening', and a 'hearty invitation to lie present is extended to friends in surrounding districts. The Ladies’ Rifle _ Club held its monthly social on Tuesday last and a happy time was passed with games and idancing till midnight, Mrs R. J. Fifleld being the winner of Mr McCallum’s trophy, with 62, Mrs I-I. R. Marks winning Mr B. llae's trophy with 62. The Men’s Rifle Club held a ihatch against the Four Peaks Club on Thursdfay evening and won by 1G points, the scores registered being 66 8 to 6 22. There was a good attendance at a meeting held in the hall for the purpose of forming a public tennis cinb. Mr .11. R. Marks was voted to tlie chair. It was decided to form 'a club and the following gentlemen are to be asked to accept office:—Patron, Mr R. J. McKeown*; president, Mr W. Tait; vicerPresidenls, Messrs Fr R. Fiatman, T. P. Wooding, J. Wooding. W. North. K. Gray: committee; Mesdames R, J. Fifleld and Harris, Messrs Borrows. B. Kao, and H. R. Marks (secretary).- It was decided to register the club, also to purchase nets and halls at once. The opening day was fixed for September 4th, when members and friends are invited to be present.
