METHODIST SOCIAL.

SI'CCKSSFLC FUNCTION AT GlsKaldixk. A most successful cobweb social was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall in connection with the Geraldine Methodist Church. The arrangements were carried out by the Y.M.I. -—the Young Methodists’ Institute. Over the heads of the people was a. huge cobweb made .of two hundred lengths of string, one end of which hung from a hoop in the centre of the hall and at the other end was a parcel containing some useful article. Great excitement was created Jas the members of the audience endeavoured to unravel their string from the centre to -trace its ramifications through the web to the end \'h ore the parcel -was held. A programme of music whs rendered, inclulding orchestral pieces by Mr ,1. P. Cliff’s orchestra, songs by Mrs H. Sharp, Master A. Sharp, Messrs G. Hand ford, T. Knibh, A. Woodward. Refreshments were provided by the Ladies’ Guild. At the conclusion of the programme games and competitions were indulged in. There was a very large audience and the promoters deserve the highest compiendation for their work and organisation. Rev. Harold Sharpe acted as chairman, and expressed the thanks of the Methodist Church, and of the Y.M.I. to all who had contributed to the success of the evening. The proceeds ’are to he devoted to Circuit and Trust Funds.
