S.C. RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting of the South Canterbury Rugby Union was held in'Timaru o n Tuesday evening. Present - Messrs H. H. Eraser (chairman), J. Beri, M. Houlihan, J. B. Crowley, Hugh Fras'er, V. I. Aspinall, and S. H. Sullivan.

The Temuka Club wrote explaining the reason for thp- non-appear-ance of their third grade team agalnst Okl Boys at Temuka on April 28th—The explanation was accepted one- member, dissenting. A later wire was received from the Temuka Club withdrawing tteir third grade (earn from the competition. —After' discussion it avus decided that Temuka be give u another opportunity to put a third grade team in th,o field "on Saturday next, the Union to be advised not later than noon onPriday whether the effort is successful or not.

The fourth grade match Celtic v. Temuka, which was not played owing to no conveyance being available for thfc-. Celtic team, was ordered to be played at a later date. It was resolved that the Zingarl Club be fined 10s for not giving sufficient notice of forfeiture of their junior team against Temuka, arid that the Zingari Club be also severely reprimanded. It was decided that, in tire event of bad weather the committee meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Country clubs will then »e advised if games are to be proceeded with. The chairman reported that £S72 had been paid to the Sports Ground Company as part of the - purchase moite*y for the Athletic Grounds. It was decided that a fee of Is be charged for admission of cars to the Athletic Grounds.
