MEMORIAL WINDOW.

DEDICATED AT PEEL FOREST. A large gathering of friends and relatives of Mr and Mrs G. Dennistoun, of Peel Forest, and of the general public attended the dedication of a Thanksgiving and Memorial Window which the Dennistoun family have put up in the beautiful little P&el Forest Anglican Church, in memory of their son, Lieutenant J. R. Dennistoun, late of the Imperial Air Forces, who lost his Uf|3j during the war. The window, which is of three lights, is a very beautiful example of stained glass craftsmanship, by the noted firm of Joseph E.

Nuttens, Harrow, England, and its colouring is very rich. On the,, left is the figure of St. Georgp, a full length figure, with the words ''We bless and thank Thee Lord, for those beyond the veil, whose steadfast, happy lives, made this dark earth to us a Paradise" at this foot. The centre .window has a beautiful

presentment of the Madonna and Child, underneath which is a scroll bearing the words "Glory to God in the Highest, o n earth peace," and at the bottom "W.y thank Thee, oh, God." Th e figure on the right is St. Michael, in full armour, and into the countenance of this figure has been introduced in a wonderful manner the features of the subject of the memorial. Underneath are

the words ""We bless and thank Thee Lord, for those, th,a young and brave-, who eager at their country's call, strong, undismayed, surrendered all. Grant them Eternal peace." Tlip- dedication service was conducted by His Grace Archbishop Jul-

ius, who preached an impressive sermon, in the course, of his address he referred to the art of staining windows, and said that thy window he had just dedicated would rank very highly among such windows in N7:-\v Zealand. He also stated that it had been originally meant as a thanks-offering by Mr and Mrs Dennistoun, and that the St. Michael window was in the nature of a memorial to their son.

The Archbishop also dedicated a brass tablet which had been erected to' the memory of Mr George Dennistoun by his friends.
