Tlic bdy of a man named Janies McWnrcliio was found dead in a water-race opposite Mr Eugene OComior’s residence (near Oaffaney’s), about 8 o’clock last evening. Itngg was speedily on the scene and tried for 20 minutes to .nstore animation, without success. 'I'll" body was then brought to Tomuka where an inquest will be held this afternoon. As far as wo could learn last evening the only sign of injury on the body was a mark ou Urn forehead. The deceased was riding a Imclunid leading a stallion, and ii is thought probable that ho took his horses to the water-race alongside the road to give them a drink, and fell off the horse he was riding into the race and been suffocated. The cause of the fall can only be conjectured. He was seen crossing the Teujuka bridge a comparatively short time before the accident. .
