THEFT OF CAR.

AM) REVOLVER INCIDENT. .NAPIEIi, April in. A rather sensational incident occurred on Awatoto road in the early hours of yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon a motor car -was stolen froiiii the Park racecourse. A'hout midnight word Was received that the car had been abandoned at Awatoto. A party went out and discovered the car and two man, one apparently drunk, whilst the other presented a revolver and gave the search party two minutes to * clear out. As they did not move as quickly as he desired a shot was trod with out effect. The party returned to town for police assistance. On their return the car antl men had d:sappeared. After a long search the car was found abandoned a few miles distant . There has been quite an epidemic of car stealing recently, and the police have no clue to the thieves. A man named Roy Kire, a motor driver, residing at Port Ahuriri, was arrested to-night, charged with attempted murder and with the theft of the car.
