The monthly meeting of the Geraldine Road Board wo# hold on Tuesday, . Present'—Messrs J. Holland (chairman), P. Mulvihill, J. Wharton, 0. Scott Thomson, and J. M. Barker.' TENDERS. Sugruc, sent’., 2s 2d. ,The 'Canterbury Fanners’ Co-opera-tive Association wrote -quoting 15/6 per cask for Portland cement ex store, Geraldine, delivery ns required.—Accepted.

CORRESPONDENCE. From Mosers Smithson and Raymond that Mr Wm. J., Marshall had sold his property containing 030 acres Lot 5, Rapuwai Settlement, to Mr Alex. Doak. Pleasant Point.—Attended to.

The Commissioner of Crown lands wrote that the Land Board had sanctioned the transfer of lease L.I.P. 211 and Ifib, 5,8, and 9, reserve 889, from William Payne to William Payne, jnnr.—To be attended to. From Messrs Smithson and Raymond, that Mr Wm. -Mill, had| sold to Mr L. L. Ferguson Reid, of TJinani, stock buyer, his property situate in the Opihi Survey District, bontnining 59 acres 1 rood 35 perches, R.S. '30865, 30566, 10910, and part R.S. 10910—To be attended to. From the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, sending balance sheet and Statement of accounts, 1 etc., for year ending March 3-Lst, JjOlO, THE ORARI RACECOURSE ROAD. Mr Jas. Rennjc, Orari, wrote that it was not a fact that the Orari racecourse road was being opened for one man- He could assure tires Board he wanted the road as muchas anyone, and he thanked 'the Board for their, decision to carry out tho rdquest.—Received. :

~-.Mr James Enright, Orhri, wrote that, while' -thanking the Board for having -acceded 'to his 'request to open the, road ; through the Otari racecourse,- ho now wished -to withdraw his-request, as h© found it would put the Racing Club to considerable expense and inconvenience. He therefore trusted the Board would rescind the resolution passed on September 13 th last.—Mr Barker gave notice of motion that the Board’s resolution Ire rescinded at next meeting. OVERSEER’S REPORT.

The overseer reported on works as under ’■—Contract for forming Taverner’s road.—This work is in hand. The. Board's team has been employed carting material for repairs to protective works. Beautiful Valley, repairs to Tour Peaks road, WaihiGorge road, Woodbury,. boundaryroad, carting willows for Orari plantation reserve protective, and other sinall works (Approved.) The daymen have boon engaged clearing Middlemans’ road drain, breaking stones, clearing Waihi Gorge track, etc. The plantation reserves have been inspected, and it was decided to put in about 8 chains of willows on the boundary reserve 1882, where the Orari river has been washing away tlie bank and fence, to cost about Tip. Work carried out. (Sataslaoj. 1 tory.) I understand the Council agreed to pay over the. sum of ;f 15 for fixing up ITang Rock new cutting. The Poar.cT can plow decide what shall be done ,to the road. (About two chains to be fenced on the western shje.) Re the application for repairs to roads i in .’ Tripp s Settlement, I wonld suggest that some members inspect these roads and decide what roads shall bo improved to give belter access to new holdings. (Mr Barker and Mr Wharl.on will inspect and decide which roads are most required.) The next Hoard day will be on the Bth November, and the Show at Christchurch will be held the same day(Next meeting will be held on November Ist.) The next harbour rate is due on November Ist. The receipts for the month were : —Subsidy on rates £250, rents and rates, etc., £7B 14/5, total £338 14/5. The credit balance at the bank was ‘£954 9/7, The total rates collected for 19.10-11 amount to £sop. A plan and estimate for Sharp’s bridge has been prepared. ■ INTERVIEWS.

Mr J. Macdonald waited on the Board asking them to provide him with a sheep track to Mr Tetheridgo’s property on the Tripp Settlement. A 1!! he asked was that about 20 chains of bush land bo underscru)»bcd a width of about half a chain. The big trees could be left standing, and if the small stuff and fern were removed the settlers could get sheep through by this track for shear™tr, and save them travelling over several miles of hill country. The expenditure of a few pounds would do all requiredi Mr Barker said that the applicant s property was all In the Mount Peel Road Board district, and if the Board did the work no doubt the Mount Peel Board would pay for Although the track required was in the Geraldine district the work would be entirely in the interests of properties from which the Mount Peel Board

were drawing rates. The Board agreed to approach the Mount Peel Road Board in the matter, and do the beet they could for the settlers.

Mr Jna. Fergilson waited on the Board asking that the road he formed leading to hia horn- stead at Waihi Gorge. The road line WHS in its original state of tussock and tie thought, it time he had received some consideration from the Board. After discussion t was decided that the matter stand over for the present. In regard to Mr Macdonald’s application if. was resolved that the Clerk write to the Mt. Peel Road Roald asking if they would Vie prepared to contribute up to say £lO for the cost of clearing a sheep track at Waihi Gorgs to Mr Tetheridge’s property. Mr J.
