TEMUKA AND GERALDINE AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of -The tfd members :'aild intending members of the Temukia and -Geraldine , Agricultural and “Pas-i torul Association was field in the' TeiAuka 'Eire Brigade roqni|. on Tuesday afternoon, when there was a very good attendance, about 30. gentlemen representing all parts of Ike district being' present. Mr R Walking, President of the Association,?! occupied the chair. The minutes of ithe ./last:annual meeting were read and continued. The chairman briefly explained the reason for calling the meeting. The object was to get the farmers in the district to take an interest in the Association and put new life into it. About 3 0 years ago they held a .show, which was not: a success financially. The Association had since nursed up its funds, and. they were now in the happy position of having a credit balance of £173, which ho thought was a very fair nest egg to start again with. Others, however, thought it, Wftjj f'due to allowing a spirit of commercialism to intrude itself into the Show. Their reserve, was now lot at 30/per acre for 7 years. They could not bold their Show on it this year, but they could hold it on the Winchester cricket grounds, which Were; conveniently situated, and offered all the accommodation required. He considered them vdry suitable.-' Thfe president narrated how, after their last Show thev had. made several attempts to hold .the annual meeting,—even trving to hold it at Geraldine—but without sresess. Oh.-Freezing Co. won by the Association for the best exhibit of farm nrorbice. at tbe Christchurch Show, end which is now on view at the Temuka Rond Board Office. ■Mr At W. Mr Donald Grant, the treasurer, said they had expended some of their ■funds in giving prizes to the Temuka and Geraldine Floral and Horticultural Societies. Air Grant proposed . that a show, ho held in connection with the Temuka and Geraldine Agricultural and Piasloral Association, to be hold at Win-’ vhotter.r-rMr- HoJwell ;Be<Sonded, the motion, and ’ -it 'was?-*carried 1 unanimously‘ -. i-.JG Mr Twomey propbsed ; that (Mi' i Warring. be re-elected■ chairman .—This was seconded by Mr Holwell, and carried. ,_Mr Wareing said he’ would have preferred that someone else be elected, but as they wished him to accept othca he would accede to their wishes ami do his best to help the Association along. Mr Mundell proposed, and Mr 801 l acConded, that Mr Holwell be reelected * vice-president.—Mr Holwell said Mr Grant had taken great interest in the Association, and had done splendid work for the Association in looking after the land. He would move that Mr Grant be elected vice-president. —Tips was seconded by Mr Annitage and carried. Mr Holwell proposed, and Mr Smith, jun., seconded—’ That Mr <>. P. Kalaugher be elected secretary.’ This was carried unanimously.

On the motion of Messrs Twom.y and Ward, Mr Grant was unanimously elected treasurer. Mr Grant moved that the committee consist of 110 members, and tiiat me form a quorum. —This was seconded by Mr tomilh, jun., ami carried.

He, saw no reason why u.«y should not hold as good .shows now as formerly. All they wanted was energy, and they must succeed. This was carried and the meeting closed. Those present entered into the proceedings in a very hearty manner, auguring well for future success. Not only did all in the room become members, but nearly everyone paid his subscription on the spot. A short committee?, meeting was held when it was decided that all should I do their best to increase the’ membership. It was deckled to hold a meet big later on to make -arrangements for the Show, awl a few minor matters having been attended to, the meeting terminated.
