—. p . ai)lii\'i;to\ market. 9IIRISTCHURCH, Oct. 5. At Addinglon to-day there were 'moderate entries of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle were linn at late rates. Store hoggets sold well, but ewes and lambs were not in such good demand. Fat lambs showed a, sharp rise in values, and fat sheep | opened linn at the previous week's rates. Pigs were in good demand. Prices .«. both store and dairy cattle were easier. The entry of store sheep was not quite equal to last week's in point of numibers, 'and was maid© up chiefly. iof hoggets and ewes and lambfe, There was a keen demand for hoggets, but the continued dry weather affected the sale of ewes and lambs, and they sold below late rates. Ewe hoggets sold up to Jss 9d, wether hoggets to 13s (kl, mixed sexes 13s (id, and small wether hoggets to lis 9d, aged ewes and lambs 7s !>d to &, and sound mouthed owes and lambs 9s 9d, all counted. The entry of fat lambs totalled 137, the quality was good and there was an advance in prices, best sorts making 15s to ISs 3d, and smaller lis to Ms (id. The yarding of fat sheep was a comparatively small one, and the quality was hardly so good as the previous week. It consisted mainly of cross;b«-edj and halfbred wethers with an odd line o!' ewes and merino wethers. The market opened under keen competition, at price,) fully up to the leved of last , week's rates, and in some oases over. The supply of beef totalled 182 head The quality showed a falling oft". Demand was keen and lato rates were firmly maintained. Steers made £G I7's (id, to £,14 15s, heifers £5 10s to L'iO 7s tid, cows .£1 15s to £ll ss, equal to 30s to 335, and in some eases to 35s for prime, second quality 29s and inferior 2fis to 28s per 1001 b. A largo yarding of veal calves sold at a decline of 5s per head in consequence of over supply. Store cattle were dull of sale on account of the dry weather and prices easier. Yearlings made 30s to 14s 6d 2-year steers and heifers £4 10s, and dry cows £2 10s and £-4 ss. Dairy cows were also easier, and several of the best were passed. Prices ranged from £2 10s to £8 12s (id.

The yarding.of pigs was an average one. 'Prime 'baconers were in specially good demand, and porkerg also sold

well, but stores were dull of sale, a large supply being on offer. Haavy baconers made 4Ss"to 60s, and lighter 42s to 475, equal to B|d per lb ; large porkers 38s to lis, and lighter 2Ss to 37s (id. equal to 4-Jd per lb ; large stores ISs to 22s (id; small lis to L7a in], and weaners os (kl to 9s.

DUNEDIN, Oct, 5. Fat cattle—l 6-1 wore yarded and three-fourths of that number were of very ordinary quality. Competition wtw very keen and prices showed an advance of fully 20s over last week's rates. Butchers had no supplies on haii'd, and as the entry was 'barely siiHieient for requirements there was a brisk sale, prices showing an advance of Is (id to 2s per head. Prime wethers 21s Cd to 27s ©d, extra to 295, medium to good 2ls Gel to 33s 9d, light ISs to 20s, best ewes 20s to 21s 3d, medium 17s to 19s, light lis to Ifis. Fat lambs— 0»ly 39 came forward, all of nice quality. The sale opened at last week's prices and improved right up to the finish. Best 22s to 255, medium 20s to 21s. I Pigs—lso were, penned. For porkers and baeoners there was brisk demand. Suckers 7s to lis, slips 12s ' 'to Uss, stores 20s to 265, porkers 32s to 35s (id, light baeoners 40s to 455, heavy SJs to 555, choppers to 80s.

'DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET.

The oat market is still in a subdued slate as far as export trade is concerned. Seldom lias there been such a term of inaction, but notwithstandiii'/ this stocks arc steadily diminishiiiL?, owing to seed orders and the local feed demand. A little enquiry -was evident during the week, but in most cases buyers filled their requirements from other ports at cheaper rates. Seed lines 2s to 2s 4cl, piimo milling Is l?s'd to 2s, good to best feed Is lOd to Is lid, inferior to medium Is 8d to Is M. There is fair inquiry for velvet and velvet-ear wheat, but the demand for other sorts is quiet, and any sales passing are on a basis of late quotations : Prime milling velvet 3s 10d to os lid, Tuscan, velvet-ear, etc., 3s \Td (o 3s Sd. medium 3s 5d to 3s 6d, best whole fowl wheat 3s 2d to 3s 4d.

The Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-live Assotiation report 'holding a sale on account of Mr .F. Gaffaney at the homestead on the farm he lately sold to Mr Wm. MeCully.
