TIMARU HORSE PARADE.

Tim animal horse parade at Timaru took place on Saturday last, and was well attended. The following horses ivere paraded : DRAUGHTS. Mr M. A. Mitten's General Wood, (Vyrs, by Ribbonwood—Little Bell, by Genoral Tracey. Mr .John Shaw's Fisherman (imp.'), by Silver Boy—diuby Australia. Pew 'jf bhc horses .belong to this district. Mr M. A.: Toomey's Commander, a big powerful horse, was seen in line fettle, looking as fresh and as lit as ever. Star of Dalimiir is a bigbold horse, showing plenty of character. He is a dark bay, standing 17 hands, with a pair of white feet, is well put together, possessed of a good temper, and a fine mover. He is a well bred horse and. always leaves good stock. The imported lvoree Voung Ettrick 11. hails from Cannington district,' He is an active stamp of horse, possessing a good colour—black —and was so well thought of on Saturday that his owner had siduciemt inducement offered him to cause him to permit the horse to pass to the hands of. a new owner. The Kingsdown horse Young Champion is a worthy son of the old Champion. A roan in colour, he is a sire showing a lot of quality, as wight be expected from his breeding and is just the Sort to -tj-rst active draughts of not too heavy a type. Messrs Austin anil Grant's imported horse Flash Hunter was a goon deal admired. Hois.ndti a big sire, but shows plenty of spirit, and quality all over. Newton's iPrido is a veiy promising horse. He stands up veil, has good clean borx, a line head, powerful neck and quarters, and i-- a very line mover, '.though he is only a youngstefhe has already made his mark in the show ring. In tin; thoroughbreds Deerstalker and Heroism were) much admired. Te Kooti, a great favourite at Gcraldine, was looking wll. Among Ihe trotters was General Wood, a showy horse, well fniished, and showing quality at every point. I lie is a son of Ribbonwood, champion of the Australasian colonies, and is a very worthy one. His dam, Little Bi'll." started in twenty-four trate, and was placed twenty-three, times. General Wood has .stood the test _of the show ring very creditably, having been shown at Tlmaru show three times, securing first place on each o'-easion. He is to travel this season in the Pleasant Point. Teiuuka, and surrounding districts. P.lack Ribbon, who is credited with having done the fastest half mile on 'the (rotting track' by any horse in New Zealand, looked extremely well. He' lis an upstanding black horse over H> hands high, with plenty of life and moving power. He comes of a goodsire -this also by Ribbonwood. The imported horse Fisherman comes of a really good stock, and is at present loo' ing well.
