In pursuance of notice of motion Mr Turnbull That for Ur purposo of calculating charges for the use of fenders and hawsers-, the charges shall commence from the time oi U-rth-ing and shall be levied for every 21 hours or part of 21 hours, Sundays and holidays excepted, instead of from midnight to midnight as at present. Tho matter was brielly discussed and Mr Turnbull's motion was then put to the meeting and carried unanimously.

The negotiations wenthen discontinued. The chairman explained the position at lcntrth. and proposals wenmade that a resolution should be rcassed nuthorisinr the remittance of the removal ohm-ires under such circumstances, but it was pointed out <thnt this could not be done as it would bo in contravention of the bylaws.

After ronsiderable discussion, the matter dropped. GENERAL. Several members urged the necessity of procuring a tug for the harbour, but no action was taken in the matter.

Mr Stickiness said that the dredge '3so' could be worked with much more satisfactory results if a couple o£ hopper barges were- provided for use with the dredge. The engineer's report showed that the total hours worked bv the dredge were 273, of which 102, less than half were occupied in dredging. He thought it mireasonable that so much time should be spent in discharging. The chairman explained that the total hours worked included time spent in repairs, etc. The time occupied in discharging, from departure to return to moorings, was only about an hour. The chairman said he would draw the attention of the engineer to the proposal.
