AN ARREST.

WELLINGTON, March 17. A smart arrest Was effected by Detectives Mollis and Scott at Free, man's Bay shortly before midnighfc. Tho arrest resulted iu the recovery of a large quantity of stolen jeweliory, and in the discovery of a large collection of housebreaking implements. The subject of the arrest -was a young man named Frank Mahcr. The defectives found upon his person a quantity of jewellery, which is alleged to connect him with several large burglaries in the city. A search of tlie man's dwelling resulted in- finding a large 'quantity of housebreaking tools, including skeleton files, batteries, wire revolvers, a flashlight, and further jewellery valued at £6O. The laiter was recovered from a cjjimwy.
